"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Col. 3:23
My wife, Rachel and I have been married for 17 years. We have been blessed with 5 wonderful kids (Caleb, Josh, Micah, Leah, and Elisha). I love to read, but not the books that most people enjoy. I like to read all kinds of non-fiction books. As a pastor and church planter, I devour books about helping people know, trust, and obey Jesus. I also love to be active. Watching, coaching or playing sports is one of my favorite uses of any free time I might have. And then there's coffee! In my classroom you will find a plaque that reads, "All I need today is a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus". I think that sums it up nicely! The focus of my life; however, would have to be King Jesus. I love Jesus because He first loved me! One of my favorite verses is Mark 1:17, where Jesus says, "Follow me, and I will make you to become fishers of men." I am learning that this commands comes with a promise and a process. If I follow Him, He will make me become the kind of person that draws others to Him as well. He is changing me over time to partner with Him in serving the hurting and seeking the lost. So these words from Jesus are actually an amazing invitation to a life of meaning and purpose. I am alive (and so are you) to know Jesus and to make Him known. Being a teacher is an awesome opportunity to do just that. But, being a student, is a prerequisite as well. The word Jesus used for this is "disciple". A disciple literally is a "student teacher"! As we learn to obey Jesus our lives and our words will help others find the joy of surrender to Him as well. And here it is that we find my greatest passion...MULTIPLICATION. Not in terms of numbers but in terms of people. I want to be a disciple that makes disciple making disciples! Jesus favorite method of teaching was asking good questions and telling good stories which is exactly how I like to teach and learn. This year it is my prayer that together we will think deeply and grow in our passion for Jesus and our desire to be equipped to share Him with others. It's going to be fun! I'm so thankful to be on the journey with you!
